Product Description When David Ball on Damages was first published in 2001, it changed the way attorneys seek damages. The book provides step-by-step guidance for attorneys seeking money for their clients. Ball explains why jurors give, why they do not, and how to motivate them to do the former instead of the latter. He walks readers through voir dire, opening, testimony, and closing, providing practical, effective, and innovative methods for pursuing damages. Now, in this expanded, second edition, Ball includes methods to contend with the way todays jurors view lawyers and their clients. The techniques provide tools to counter sophisticated opposition tactics, the public mood, and laws and rules that continue to grow more hostile.

A must read July 23, 2005 Bruce H. Stern 12 out of 12 found this review helpful
I have waited months in anticipation of David Ball's new book on damages. His first edition revolutionized how cases should be tried. It was a must read for all attorneys in my office. His updated book has surpassed all of my expectaions. This edition has new chapters, more trial tips and even greater insight.
This is a book every trial attorney should have on his/her desk and in one's trial bag.
Great handbook for personal injury trial attorneys May 15, 2009 jay kenyon (LAS VEGAS, NV USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been at attorney for 12 years, and doing Plaintiff's personal injury work for the last 5. The hardest (or at least most uncomfortable) aspect of personal injury trials is reducing my clients' pain and suffering into first, understandable terms for the jury, and second, into a dollar figure. This book is an excellent help in those regards. It helps you develop analogies and examples to help convey your clients' general damages. I absolutely recommend it.
Absolutely required reading for trial lawyers March 25, 2006 Aaron De Shaw 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are a trial lawyer and don't have this book yet, you are missing out. David Ball is incredibly gifted in conveying his message as briefly and directly as possible. The first edition of Damages changed the way I prepared and handled cases. The second edition is even better. Highly suggested reading.
David Ball on Damages: The Essential Update May 7, 2007 Leon Viator (Cajunland, U.S.A.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Quite frankly, it is malpractice to try a jury case without first reading this book. A MUST for any trial attorney for civil litigation. Ball plainly lays out the basics of jury selection and then expounds on the critical points to successfully arguing damages to a jury.
essential reading for every trial attorney November 3, 2006 Mark F. (San Francisco, CA) Full of practical advice developed through years of jury consulting. A must read for any attorney interested in monetizing pain and suffering.
